President Yoshioka said, “It would be helpful for the safety and security of the people.” while wearing a mask knitted by the knitting machine.
Goodhill Co., which manufactures and sells men’s clothing, has begun manufacturing masks using a knitting machine. In addition to being elastic and fitting to a face, they will be more effective thanks to a non-woven fabric filter inserted in the inner pockets. President Yoshioka says, “I hope that it will be helpful for the safety and security of the prefecture's citizens to utilize our equipment.”
The company had introduced a WHOLEGARMENT knitting machine to manufacture a custom-made non-sewn jacket for the first time in the apparel industry and launch it for sales. In the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the company was considering the production of masks using the said machine, which had a wide range of applications while proceeding with the in-house development of the organization program.
The finished mask is a knit with cotton and polyester and its three-dimensional design and elasticity perfectly fit to the shape of a face. In addition, it is repeatedly washable. It also comes with a replacement non-woven filter that can be placed inside the pocket.
The whole item including ear-hook parts can be integrally knitted with the said machine, but to shorten the manufacturing time, a rubber string is used for the ear - hook. For the time being, about 120 pieces will be produced per day. 1,500 yen (excluding tax) for a set of a mask and 30 non-woven filters. On sale at Goodhill directly managed stores and F-One stores.
“In the current shortage of masks in the market, one set can be used for about a month, so I hope it will make a tentative relief.” Said the President Yoshioka.
